Project: Unsettled - Impossible Escape
Unsettled is an escape game hidden in an ordinary-looking phone. The screen is blank, a mail icon has one unread message, and every message from Unsettled Corp is a lock that gives up a number. There are no instructions, and no clue is given for free.
Dr Jarrad Branthwaite and Chris Wood hid eleven years of work in the phone, behind a chain of locks. Find every number, in order, and their sealed messages open. Then someone in Paris gets in touch.

Highlights
- Every answer is a number, entered on a keypad that never goes away. Most of the controls on screen are decoys.
- Puzzles use the phone itself: turn it, shake it, lay it face down, knock on the back, go dark, go offline, or go for a walk.
- Some clues aren’t in the app at all. They’re in the Settings app, on the Home Screen widget, at the end of a phone call in Morse, or on Unsettled Corp’s own GitHub.
- Three chapters and thirty-five locks. Chapter two arrives a day after chapter one, in real time. Chapter three is fifteen harder, French-tinged locks, a Face ID one-time pad, and anything real with a barcode.
- Each chapter ends with a message sealed with ChaCha20-Poly1305, keyed by that chapter’s answers, so it can’t be read from the app’s files.
- Chapters one and two are free. Chapter three is a one-off purchase, and three hints cost £0.99; every five levels earns one free.
- Built with SwiftUI for iPhone, with the game rules in a tested Swift package and every level written as data.
- Offline and private: no account, no ads, no tracking, and nothing leaves the phone.
- App Privacy Policy.
