App Privacy - Mobile Application Privacy Policy

Overview

thechelsuk and Hiyd (“we,” “our,” or “us”) are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our any of our apps, software, programs, and extensions. We have one policy as everything is built with privacy in mind. Where an app needs to connect to other services to work, its own section below says exactly what is sent and where.

Information We Collect

  • We do not collect any personal information from our users. Our apps and extensions are designed to operate without the need for any data collection.

Information We Don’t Collect

  • Personal Data: We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information
  • Usage Analytics: We do not track your usage patterns or behaviour
  • Account Information: No account creation or login is required
  • Content Data: Your content (for example, markdown and Jekyll posts, or your podcast library) remains on your device or in your own iCloud.

Local Storage Only

  • All your data is stored locally on your device
  • Settings and preferences are saved in your browser’s local storage (Chrome extension if applicable) or iCloud (iOS or iPadOS apps)
  • No personal data is transmitted to our servers or any third-party services, except as described for a specific app below

How We Use Information

Since we don’t collect personal information, we cannot use it. All processing happens locally on your device:

  • Markdown generation and formatting
  • Jekyll front matter creation
  • Content preview and editing
  • JSON files for archiving or export.
  • Local settings management and preferences storage.
  • Keyboard shortcuts and user interface interactions.

Data Security

  • Local Processing: All operations are performed locally on your device
  • No Server Communication: Our apps do not communicate with external servers, except where an app section below says so
  • No Data Transmission: Your content never leaves your device or iCloud drive
  • Device Security: Your data security depends on your device’s security measures

Third-Party Services

Neither Hiyd nor thechelsuk shares your data with any third-party services. Most of our apps work entirely offline after installation; the exceptions are listed below.

Opiuml

Opiuml is a podcast player. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and we don’t collect your data. Your subscriptions, episodes, queue, listening history, stats, settings and downloads are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on, they sync between your devices through your private iCloud database, which we can’t read. Logins for private feeds are kept in your iCloud Keychain and only sent to that feed’s own server.

To work, Opiuml connects directly to these services. Each receives your device’s IP address and the request it needs, under its own privacy policy:

  • Podcast publishers and hosts: feeds, artwork, chapters, transcripts and episodes are downloaded directly from the servers that publish them. As with any podcast app, publishers can see that an episode was downloaded, and some count downloads for their own statistics.
  • Apple: podcast search and Apple Podcasts links use Apple’s iTunes Search API. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store; we receive no payment details.
  • YouTube (Google): if you add a YouTube channel, Opiuml reads its public feed and plays videos in YouTube’s own embedded player, under Google’s privacy policy.

Transcripts made on your device use Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and episode summaries use Apple Intelligence on your device. Neither sends audio or text anywhere.

Instant updates (optional, off unless you turn it on): your device’s push notification token and the addresses of the public feeds you follow are sent to our update server, hosted on Cloudflare, so it can tell your device when a new episode appears. It never receives feeds that need a login, your listening history, or anything that identifies you. Apple’s DeviceCheck confirms requests come from a genuine device without identifying you. A device’s data is deleted after 60 days without contact, or straight away if you turn the setting off.

You can export your library at any time (Settings › Backup, or OPML export), even without a subscription.

Children’s Privacy

Our app does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected, COPPA compliance is inherent in our design.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
