Project: Cheltenham Open Data

A GitHub project to collect and disseminate public open data from a variety of sources, created during the covid pandemic and lockdown 2020. The project pulls together terrorism ratings, food-bank data, flood warnings and covid data (now archived). The page now includes helpful phone numbers, consolidated local news and more being added as it becomes available. The main requirement was to just republish existing data as RSS feeds (xml) as it continues to be an undervalued publishing format.

What’s inside

The project tracks live local data for Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, pulled daily from official sources:

• Find the cheapest petrol and diesel prices across Cheltenham’s forecourts, updated daily from 112 sites.
• Check current flood warnings and river alerts for Cheltenham, sourced live from the Environment Agency.
• Browse recent Cheltenham house prices from HM Land Registry and ONS.
• See the latest planning applications filed with Cheltenham Borough Council.
• Look up GP surgeries and pharmacies in Cheltenham and local Post Office branch locations.
• Read today’s air quality readings for Cheltenham.
• See what Cheltenham food banks currently need donated.
• Follow aggregated local news for Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, or subscribe to the daily news summary RSS feed.
